Earlier this year, Jubilate launched a competition to write a new hymn for Remembrance Sunday. Here’s what they did with mine, Hope for the world’s despair. It’s a recording and rather beautiful animation.
Here’s the Jubilate page with the words of this and all the shortlisted hymns.
And here’s an article about it from the Church Times:
Congratulations and thank you for such a beautiful hymn. A well deserved win.
Thank you! My big hope is that it will hit the spot for people when it’s sung next month.
thank you for this hymn – we sang it at both churches this weekend as part of our Remembrance, and many comments were made on the appropriateness by youngsters and by veterans – it did “hit the spot” as you hoped
Thank you!
